The English Language and Literature Major is dedicated to enriching students' knowledge and skill in English language, literary studies, linguistics, and education. Students will have opportunities to learn how to conduct interdisciplinary research through a broad spectrum of current theoretical and practical approaches, and to develop a critical, analytical, and creative mind through our program.
Education Objective

The main purpose of the English Language and Literature Major is to produce scholars and specialists with interdisciplinary insight and knowledge in English literature, language, and education. This program aims to provide a wide variety of courses to help students achieve language proficiency, critical thinking and a creative mind.

Specialities
  • Translation Studies
    - English Language and Literature Department provides academic and professional courses specialized in Translation Studies. Students learn basic theories of translation and carry out actual translation practices of diverse texts with a goal to become qualified as specialists in inter-cultural communication.

  • Data-Driven Study of the English Language
    - Data-driven approaches to linguistics and language education emphasize gaining an understanding of language through close observation of ample authentic data. In English Language and Literature Major, students are introduced to the field of corpus linguistics and encouraged to explore different varieties of English through both native-speaker and ESL learners’ language data, essentially by taking a “learner-as-researcher” perspective.
