IT media is a combination of 'IT', which intensively means the theoretical foundation of advanced IT-related technologies, and 'media', which means the medium of information expression and transmission. Based on the convergence of IT core technology and media design, education and research are conducted to ensure multiple convergence capabilities for planning, production, editing, and application to advanced IT fields for processing, transmitting, and storing text, image, video, sound, and design. Based on IT, the core of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, this department aims to develop human-to-human media technologies and develop new methods to design and create a more convenient and rational future for humans.
To achieve this goal, we learn key IT technologies, including basic theories and programming methods of computer systems, basic concepts of digital media, and technologies that maximize the effectiveness of multi-content data transfer using various media.
Education Objective
- Training of professionals in all areas of content based on culture and technology
- Training of experts in cultural technology convergence centered on the 4th industry
- Training professionals with collaborative skills through team project-based discussion and practical training
- Development of enterprising professionals with creativity, expertise, and problem-solving skills
Specialities
We are training human resources with the goal of producing technology-oriented cultural and artistic contents suitable for the 4th Industrial Revolution. The mass production of various contents through the convergence of technology and art is the basis of the future high value-added industry, and it is in line with the talent image pursued by this university. Based on the programming language, it deals with sound art, image analysis/processing and production, cyberspace design (mixed reality such as VR, AR, MR), user experience interface (UI/UX) design, and media fusion. With the development of the fourth industry, the cultural industry is also rapidly changing, and humanities, artistic, and technical skills are all needed to understand and develop the characteristics of creative content. We train convergence engineers as entertainment industry experts who can enter the world through high-tech performances, exhibitions, games, experimental content industry-academic projects, and field-oriented convergence education.
Education Curriculum
- The major of IT media engineering is a convergence field that deals with planning, production, processing, and transmission of realistic content based on computer science. Therefore, it deals with sound art, image analysis/processing and production, cyberspace design (mixed reality such as VR, AR, MR, etc.), user experience interface (UI/UX) design, and media fusion on a programming language basis.
- Therefore, this department operates as two big tracks: digital content production and digital programming. Digital content teaches video production, VFX, games, apps & web UI/UX, and digital programming operates languages such as JavaScript, C, C++, Python, and DB and server curriculum. It also operates an industry-academic-centered curriculum through internship credits and extra-course.
