Human Development & Family Studies (HDFS) is a major that helps students to develop diverse competencies required for professionals in child and family-related fields by providing scientific knowledge on human development and family interaction. HDFS is an applied science conveying findings of empirical research to various practical areas, such as child and family therapy, family life education, human service, and family policy.
Education Objective
  1. Cultivating basic knowledge and expertise in the field of children and families
  2. Facilitating active learning and hands-on training
  3. Heightening healthy self-esteem as human service professionals
Specialities

Our mission is to enrich the lives of all children and families in our community and society. We believe the best way to learn is by experience. So HDFS offers many service-learning and experiential learning opportunities. Based on the knowledge of human development, HDFS graduates can work in a broad range of settings.
1) Students who complete HDFS curriculum are eligible for early child care teacher license issued by Korean Ministry of Health and Welfare. Graduates often assume leadership roles in the field as directors of early childcare centers.
2) Students who complete HDFS curriculum are eligible for a healthy family professional license issued by Korean Ministry of gender equality and family. Graduates work as family service professionals in nationwide community family centers.
