As society changes rapidly, people could face various problems. Social welfare is an applied social science that aims to develop, implement, and evaluate professional strategies to address various needs or problems of multi-level systems (i.e., micro-meso-macro). Social welfare addresses social oppression and structural inequality and navigates complex social systems. Social welfare also contributes to improving the functioning of the welfare system.
The Bachelor of Arts in Social Welfare program from Duksung Women’s University educates students to be generalists or specialists in social welfare areas (e.g., practice, research, administration, or policy). This program highlights the importance of understanding social welfare values, ethics, justice, and professional competency. Students can gain the knowledge and skills they need to work with individuals, families, groups, organizations, communities, and the government.
Education Objective

This program enables students to:
(1) Promote their professional competency through the lens of social welfare policy and practical knowledge.
(2) Enhance their problem-solving strategies as leaders in social work practice.
(3) Improve their ethics in social work practice by understanding the importance of human dignity.

(1) Once students have completed the coursework, they are qualified to take the National Examination to become licensed general social workers. Licensed general social workers can apply to the national expert/specialist training programs.

This program also has a variety of internal scholarships or funds. The student council (a one-year term) is responsible for establishing them and connecting students. They show a higher level of leadership for the department.
